Personal

Now that I am in my 50s I truly understand the value of balance and that is why my life includes -- yes, a passion for working with my clients -- but also time with family and friends, as well as time for travel, cycling and yoga. And there is more time to find that balance than ever before...

Our house in Ansley Park is suddenly quiet as my daughter, Anna, just began college in British Columbia, and my son, Walker, is attending school in Tennessee. So, my husband Don and I are doing our best to figure out what it means to be "empty nesters." When we are not rushing to see our children on opposite ends of the country, we are strapping on our backpacks and heading out to find our next hiking or biking adventure.

This is something we've also done as a family through the years. Highlights of these family adventures have included hiking Machu Picchu in Peru; Mayan ruins in Belize; the Canadian Rockies; the Grand Tetons; Italy’s Amalfi Coast; Kuau’i, Hawaii; Telluride, Co.; and Granada, Spain.

Don is never without his camera, and so here are a few family photos that mark our many adventures:

Here we are, taking in the sights from Alhambra -- the old Moorish castle and fortress in Grenada, Spain.

I’m hiking with my daughter, Anna, mid-morning in beautiful Telluride, Colorado.

Look at those cliffs!  This is the Na Pali Coast in Kuau’i, Hawaii. We also had the chance to explore the scenery by hiking and plane.

Walker and I take in the view of Mayan ruins in Belize.

Walker and I had just completed the world’s longest zip line. We flew 50 mph over the trees.  Thankfully, it was more peaceful than frightening, but it was a long way to the other side.

Our family got “roped in” to climbing the Grand Tetons, and we loved every minute of it.

Family Hike Machu Picchu

After a day’s climb, we felt like we earned the gorgeous view atop of Machu Picchu.

I love travelling but it’s always good to get home -- back to my porch, my two dogs and my work.
